The Struggle of the Mornings
On school days, Emily struggles to wake up at 6 a.m. She struggles to get out of her bed and turn off the alarm clock. After about three rounds of her clock ringing, Emily will look at her clock. She then silently yells at herself, and Emily showers and gets ready. After struggling to put all of her uniform on, she has to rush off of her ranch. Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Emily promptly leaves for the 30 minute drive to school. Living so far away from school causes Emily to stress out for a solid twenty minutes as she gathers her thoughts. At school, Emily works to get through her day without having a mental breakdown. During mathematics and art, Emily finds the most relief from stressful school work. She believes she truly understands these subjects, and she believes they help her in her daily life.
After School=No Time to Lose
After school, Emily is barely has time to breath. She attends either volleyball or soccer practice (depending on the season) until around 5:30 p.m., or even later if she has a game. Emily stays very active, whether she is running around her ranch or playing almost any sport. After practices, she drives with her mom to her home. Although one has to stay very aware while they're driving, Emily believes driving lets her clear her mind. In her white pickup truck, she normally rolls the windows down and cruises. Emily reflects over her thoughts while she's in the car, and she quickly gets back to working when she gets home. Normally, Emily will run errands or do chores around the house, and then she will sit down for about fifteen minutes and eats dinner with her family. For the rest of the night, Emily heads outside to ride her horses. This girl relates to animals differently than normal people (there are about 15 or more animals living on Emily's property). Having no human siblings, she closely identifies with her animals, relying on them to comfort her in times of need.
Hold Your Horses!Emily competes in barrel racing with her horses. This is the rodeo event where one runs a horse around three barrels. She has been doing competitions with her horses since she was young. In this particular event, the person who can go around the barrels the fastest wins. One of the reasons Emily believes she does so well in sports is because she has a competitive attitude. In order to excel in this sport, Emily must ride her horses to keep them in shape and trained. She has two horses, Maddi and Whiplash. She rides them 4 days a week for countless hours. After riding, she cleans their stalls and feeds the horses. After she is physically drained, Emily goes inside to do schoolwork until she can't anymore. Before falling asleep at around 10 p.m., she showers and brushes her teeth. |
Free-Time?
Emily typically has a horse show every weekend. On horse show days, she has to rise at around 7 in the morning. She starts off by washing her horses, and then she gets everything ready (brusing of horse hair, warming up of horse legs, and polishing horse shoes takes place during this time). Normally these shows are on Saturdays, but sometimes they are on Sundays. There are even three-day shows from Friday through Sunday. Emily finds it difficult to fit school work in during this time, but she manages to do it because she knows learning will help her in the long run. After an exhausting weekend, Emily tries to watch her favorite shows on Netflix or when they are live on cable. On weekends without a horse show (which is rarely), Emily enjoys boating. Normally she will fish or just relax and have a lake day. Emily also spends time with her close-knit family and friends; she believes the people who surround her shape who she has become. Emily feels she has accomplished so much, and she cannot wait to live her life to the fullest. She's excited for what the future has in store for her.
